From my initial contact with the coordinator to my move with the crew, I had a great experience. This was my first interstate move by myself (from one state to another) and Scherer Moving & Storage made it easy. They were considerate, polite, careful with my belongings. I would highly recommend Scherer Moving & Storage for your moving needs.
Summer Moving in Milwaukee: Booking Windows, Heat Days and Load Times
More than half of Wisconsin’s moves pack into the same five months, and Milwaukee’s summer is the thickest part of it. Here’s how to hold your dates — and your patience — when the season is at full tilt.
Book three to four weeks out
Summer weekends go first, and the last week of any month goes before that — lease cycles and school calendars dump every move onto the same Fridays. Three to four weeks of lead time keeps your choice of dates; two weeks means taking what’s left; one week means calling around and hoping.
Heat days change the schedule
July and August afternoons over 90°F move the work to the morning: crews start earlier, and heavy items ride first while the day is still cool. Electronics, candles, plants and anything heat-sensitive should travel in your car, not the truck — a parked truck box gets warmer than you’d think.
Parking is its own project
Lakefront weekends and downtown festivals eat curb space. If your move lands on one, reserve truck parking with the city or the building early — a crew circling for a spot burns your hourly rate the same as anything else.
And when dates slip
The classic summer problem: your lease ends June 30 and the new place is ready July 3. Storage bridges the gap — pickup, storage and redelivery on one written plan. Milwaukee moving details live here, storage plans here, and the form starts it all.

We had a great experience with Scherer Moving & Storage. The crew were courteous, friendly, worked quickly and expertly, and were extremely careful with our belongings. These are real professionals, and they made every effort to make sure that our move was a success in all ways. I would strongly recommend Scherer Moving & Storage to anyone looking for help with their move. They are truly outstanding.
Scherer Moving & Storage were contracted by a furniture retailer to deliver my mattress. The mattress was a king size almost 500lbs beast that needed to be taken down to the basement. The two guys were prompt, quick, and friendly. They were able to squeeze it through a tighter stairwell with no damage. Great guys, super appreciative of their work.
For the most part the move was conducted professionally, quickly and efficiently. My only issue was the improper packing of two bags which I had set aside from the material to be moved as they were to be my luggage for both the next week and an upcoming trip. Despite being requested they did not find where those bags had been packed on the truck not contacted me later to let me know if my luggage had been found. For this reason, I am giving them a 4 star instead of 5 star review.
The guys were very fast, professional, and friendly. They did a great job. They were very positive the whole time even though it was a Sunday and was raining. I would definitely recommend Scherer Moving & Storage.:)
They didn't come when promised, twice. Sent two guys and a small woman to move a 300 pound filing cabinet up 4 stairs into the house. They didn't bring a truck to haul off items for trash as promised, then called more guys who brought a full truck, then smashed the furniture for removal all over my driveway and left shards of wood and screws all over the driveway. If I hadn't noticed and swept I'd likely gotten a flat tire. Only upside is they were polite and got the job done once they finally came. Update: The owner offered me my money back as an apology for his staff's behavior so I'm adding a star.
